Welcome to the
Tübingen Christmas Market
During the 2nd Week of Advent the town of Tübingen is transformed into a mecca for chocolate lovers.
More than 200,000 visitors are expected to visit the one of the world's most prestigious chocolate festivals.
Master chocolatiers from all five continents will present, sell and compete to achieve the best cocoa-based products.
Just over a week later the old town of Tübingen is dominated by the Christmas fair, the smell of mulled wine, roasted almonds and the aromatic taste of a Swabian dish called “Krautschupfnudeln” (you can even eat the plate). Kebap, pizza, langos and Chinese food also add an exotic touch to the Tübingen Christmas Market, helping to create an unforgettable and distinctive atmosphere.
For just one long weekend each year, about 450 Christmas fair stalls are erected in front of the beautiful half-timbered houses, leaving you with a feeling of warmth and friendliness.
The roads and paths are bathed with soft candle lights and historic street lamps. No booth looks the same. Most of them are originals and especially designed and lovingly decorated just for the chocolART and the Christmas market.
Furthermore, the Christmas fair is spread all over the charming city. From the lower town to the Krumme Brücke, from the Kornhausstraße to the Market square. Stalls are also placed at the Holzmarkt, the Neckargasse, the Neue Straße and at the Nonnenhaus as well.
If you are looking for an extraordinary and special but also a typical Christmas market, Tübingen is the ideal place. Most of the goods offered are home-made: jam and honey, shawls and gloves, cups and plates, toys and paintings, candles and Christmas tree decorations.
Fascinated and inspired by what you can buy here many visitors come back to the Tübingen Christmas Market year after year.
Still, that’s not all you can expect from a visit to Tübingen. There are many other attractions like a historic merry-go-round, a programme designed for children with films, clowns and magicians, as well as many orchestras and choirs.
