Welcome to the
Muenster Christmas Market
Muenster's Christmas Market becomes more festive and more fairytale like every year. Set against the charming backdrop of the illuminated old quarter, its five Christmas Markets are all within a stone's throw away from each other.
There are 300 stalls in all, offering a huge range of toys, decorations and crafts, as well as sweets, treats, snacks and hot drinks.
When the Prinzipalmarkt is festively illuminated, the aroma of mulled wine and roasted almonds meanders through the streets, and shops are splendidly decorated – that is when the most wonderful time of the year begins in Münster.
Under a romantic light filled sky, on the inner courtyard of the Town Hall is where the oldest and largest Christmas Market is staged. Here, jewellery and artisan items as well as a large culinary variety can be found.
At the bottom of the mighty Lamberti church, surrounded by historic arcaded houses, the St. Lamberti Christmas light market sets glitzy accents with the blue pointed roofs of the stands and a 22-metres high tree covered in lights.
At the cosy Christmas village set up around the monument of Münster’s Kiepenkerl, quaint little stands combine indulgence with tradition.
The Aegidii Christmas Market attracts visitors with an impressive nativity scenes and a 6-metres high wooden pyramid.
Set against the historic walls of the Überwasserkirche, the Giebelhüüskes Market opens its gates with a wide selection of crafts and special delicacies.
The many churches also offer space for meditative moments.
Advent tours, filled with many anecdotes, provide an insight into Münster‘s history and traditions. The child care point at the Maxi Tower on Prinzipalmarkt 15 offers an alternative to a stroll with parents across the Christmas Markets for children aged 4 to 10. (Open Monday – Friday 2 pm – 6 pm, Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm). Experience the magic of Christmas in Muenster!
