Christmas Market Dates
21st November – 23rd December 2016
Welcome to the
Saarbrücken Christmas Market
Saarbrücken’s historical St. Johanner Markt square and the region’s most popular shopping street, the Bahnhofstrasse, provide the ideal backdrop for the Saarbruecken Christmas Market and the 80 or so festively decorated huts.
The fantastic attractions include a traditional alpine hut, a huge Advent wreath, the bell tower and life-sized Christmas characters.
Another Christmas market highlight in Saarbrücken is the sensational 9 metre hand crafted Christmas pyramid.
On a cold day a traditional hot punch or a glühwein can help you keep out the cold as you listen to daily Christmas concerts on the St. Johanner Markt.
For children and adults there is a traditional puppet theatre performance every Saturday and Sunday between 2 and 4pm and every day at 7pm Father Christmas and his reindeer sleigh hover over the market on a high wire to tell the story of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer.
Every year on the first advent weekend, the Old Saarbrücken Christmas Market takes place around the beautiful Saarbrücker Schloss (stately home).
With over 200 delightfully decorated stalls, vendors of the old Christmas market are mostly from clubs, non-profit organizations and local people who want to provide something special for Christmas.
