Saarbruecken Christmas Market

Saarbruecken Christmas Market

Saarbrücken’s historical St. Johanner Markt square and the region’s most popular shopping street, the Bahnhofstrasse, provide the ideal backdrop for the Saarbruecken Christmas Market and the 80 or so festively decorated huts.

The fantastic attractions include a traditional alpine hut, a huge Advent wreath, the bell tower and life-sized Christmas characters.

Every day at 7pm Father Christmas and his reindeer sleigh hover over the market on a high wire and tell the story of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer.

About the Town of Saarbruecken

Saarbrücken, the regional capital of the Saarland, is a modern city in the heart of the Saar-Lor-Lux region. Its love of all things French is visible everywhere, in its picturesque lanes and courtyards and in little bistros and countless restaurants. Visitors exploring this 1,000 year old town will discover the works of the great baroque architect Friedrich-Joachim Stengel at every turn..

Saarbrücken's three prettiest squares are Schlossplatz, Ludwigsplatz and St. Johanner Markt surrounded by the narrow lanes of the old town. The palace, with its avant-garde centrepiece, is a blend of baroque and modern styles and a lively venue for cultural events. Ludwigskirche church is considered to be one of the most beautiful Protestant baroque churches in Germany.
