Ruedesheim Christmas Market

The Christmas market in Ruedesheim am Rhein brings a distinctly festive feel to the romantic old quarter and its popular Drosselgasse lane, as 120 stalls representing 12 countries gather to present Christmas customs and traditions from around the world. Europe's biggest Nativity scene can also be found in Ruedesheim with life-size figures which can be admired on the market square.

An absolute must do at the Ruedesheim Christmas Market is to try some deliciously made Rudesheim Coffee, which is exclusively made with locally distilled Asbach Uralt Brandy, whipped cream and traditionally served in an authentic Ruedesheim Coffee Set. The coffee set it self would of course make a perfect gift for any one back home. Available through out the Ruedesheim Christmas Market, Asbach Uralt also make some great brandy filled chocolates.

About the Town of Ruedesheim

Ruedesheim is set in the varied countryside between the gently rolling Taunus hills and the rugged Loreley Valley, surrounded by a wide expanse of vineyards. The Niederwald country park in the hills above Ruedesheim has numerous vantage points with spectacular views of the Rhine Valley, making it a lovely place to visit.

Ruedesheim has many attractions, such as the Drosselgasse lined with wine taverns and gardens and the Niederwald monument, depicting the mythical figure of Germania, which can be reached from Ruedesheim and Assmannshausen by foot through the vineyards, or by cable car or chair lift. The ruins of Ehrenfels Castle are in an idyllic location surrounded by vineyards above the Rhine gorge.

The Asbach visitors' centre at the birthplace of German brandy covers all aspects of distilling.

The Medieval Torture Museum illustrates crime and punishment in the Middle Ages. The Brömserburg Wine Museum in Brömserburg Castle features the history of local wine making. Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet is a musical adventure with "antique computers" that play music.
